Ferry Morse Seed Company - Nationwide
For several summers during my undergraduate education, I worked with Ferry Morse Seed Company out of Fulton, Kentucky. This company sells flower and vegetable seed to retail stores and garden centers throughout the United States.
My responsibilities included locating customers, planning my travel route and daily activities, driving a company vehicle, inventorying and
returning the remaining merchandise, issuing credit, accepting payment, setting up previously-shipped displays, and obtaining reorders. For many of these customers, I was the only Ferry Morse Representative with whom they had personal contact, so our interaction was very important.
Because Ferry Morse sells its products throughout the United States, I have driven company vehicles over 53,000 miles through 40 states, calling on over 500 retail accounts. During the weekends, I was able to sight-see. And over three summers, I have seen quite a lot, traveling everywhere from Maine to California.
KIIS Program - Segovia, Spain
During the Spring of 2004, I and eleven other MSU students studied in Segovia, Spain through the Kentucky Institute for International Studies.
I lived with a host family and studied at the KIIS Center. My coursework included Spanish, Spanish History, and Honors Literature. I also produced on an independent documentary project called Postcards from Spain. [more]
Exchanging for a full semester allowed me and several other students to explore both Spain and Europe. I visited Córdoba, Granada, Sevilla, Barcelona, Madrid, and several other Spanish cities. I also went to London, Paris, and Rome.
Although I took advantage of the many opportunities to travel, I also enjoyed walking Segovia itself. This amazing city has a Roman Aqueduct from the 1st Century, a large gothic cathedral, and a castle that was once home to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Studying abroad was definitely an experience of a lifetime.

University of Memphis - Memphis, TN
Recognizing the need for a broad range of experiences in media production, I studied at the University of Memphis through the National Student Exchange. There, I specialized in media production, allowing me to take courses that were unavailable at Murray.
Exchanging for the full year, I enrolled in courses covering audio recording theory and technique, motion picture production, advanced web design, and digital imaging. I also gained experience with the following software: Adobe Photoshop, Quark Xpress, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash, Protools, and Mac OS X.
Although I missed my friends back at Murray, participating in the National Student Exchange allowed me to expand my knowledge of various types of media production and to become more familiar with the city of Memphis.
